The BirdHitch: The Tool That Changed the Way We Clean Ducks
Anyone who has been on a successful waterfowl hunting trip knows that the work does not end when the guns are put away. After a good hunt, somebody still has to clean the birds.
On our recent three-day trip to North Dakota, our group of six hunters harvested ninety ducks. That is a great trip, but it also means a lot of birds cleaning at the end of some long days in the field.
Fortunately, we had The BirdHitch.
Using The BirdHitch, our group was able to clean our ducks in less than 30 minutes per day. Instead of spending a big part of the evening processing birds, we were able to get them cleaned efficiently, bagged, and ready for the freezer.
Less Than a Minute Per Bird
The BirdHitch makes the cleaning process incredibly simple.
We slid each duck onto The BirdHitch and pulled the bird to separate the breast and wings from the rest of the body. After discarding the body, we removed the skin and feathers from the breast and clipped one wing, leaving the other attached to the breast for identification during transportation.
In less than a minute, a duck could be cleaned and ready for the freezer bag.
When you are processing a large number of birds, those saved minutes add up quickly. With six guys and ninety ducks over three days, The BirdHitch turned what could have been a time-consuming chore into a quick part of our daily routine.
More Time Hunting, Less Time Cleaning
For me, that is the real advantage.
When you travel for a waterfowl hunt, you want to spend your time scouting, hunting, and enjoying the trip with the guys, not standing around for hours cleaning birds at the end of the day.
The BirdHitch made quick work of our ducks and helped us prepare the birds for transportation while leaving a wing attached for identification.
It is simple, fast, and easy to use. There are not a bunch of complicated steps or equipment to deal with. After you see how quickly one bird can be processed, it is hard to imagine going on another waterfowl trip without it.
An Essential Piece of Waterfowl Gear
Hunters spend a lot of time thinking about shotguns, decoys, calls, waders, and everything else that goes into a successful trip. But what happens after the hunt matters too.
After putting The BirdHitch to work on ninety ducks during our three-day North Dakota trip, I consider it an essential piece of gear for traveling waterfowl hunters.
It saves time. It simplifies the cleaning process. And when you have a pile of ducks waiting at the end of a wonderful day in the field, you will be glad you brought it.
The BirdHitch earned a permanent spot on our waterfowl hunting-trip packing list.
